In a situation where no employees work at the office (all work remote).
And where server disk space and network bandwidth is limited.
It was decided that WUS had to be removed from the SBS2008 server.
Or else our other application that make our business couldn't make use of the internet 24H (an important requirement).
However the server itself (only the server) should download its own update, just like any normal windows 7 client would download them from microsoft.
So followed all articles, about how to cleanly deinstalled it in normal way.
And removed it from policies too and the registry registry.
Added windows update links as trusted site in IE-explorer etc.
But no go, windows update wont run in normal mode on the sbs 2008 (without WUS server).
Even reinstalled the updated and latest client agent (took a long time), but its not working.
Any ideas ?
