Dear Team,
I'm deploying update thru WSUS since long time but now i am facing an issue. I want to deploy updates using WSUS with deadline but on the created new OU we are using Windows update policy with 3-Auto download and notify to install. But issue is we should
use Deadline or not if after using deadline cross then machines automatically install the update or not or will notify to user to install updates manually.
Thanks Team in advance.

As the title suggests I am struggling to get our servers downloading LP's, both server 1607 (2016) and 1809 (2019).
I uderstand that LPs are available through WSUS for build 1607 and these have been downloaded and Approved for a group in WSUS where both 1607 and 1809 servers live. On the 1607 when i click on Reagoion and Language i see it serachng WU but then nothing, 'A language pack isn't available'.
For the 1809 server the LPs are no lonnger available and i have been advised to Enable the setting 'Specify settings for optional component installation and component repair' and select 'Download repair content and optional features directly from Windows Update instead of Windows Server Update Services (WSUS)'. Again like the 1607 build it cannot find the labguage pack.
The only way to get this working acropss both servers is to disable WSUS on the server by editing the regvalue UseWUServer. This then trundles off to the Internet and downlodeds the LP!
Is there anyway to get both types of server to doanload the LPs without having to mess around on each server?

Hi
A handful of machines in my network are now Win10 1903 and these machines keep reporting 'You're not up to date' when asked to check for updates. I'm aware that I need to enable the 'Windows 10, version 1903 and later' in the Products and Classifications menu in WSUS. I've also enabled the same option in the Automatic Approvals rule relevant to my workstations. I've waited 24 hours, rebooted the server, deleted the contents of SoftwareDistribution on the client machine, but I keep getting this message:
The machines appear to be checking into WSUS normally. For the client above, WSUS reports that it checked in with its status just minutes ago, and that it is missing 8 updates.
Any ideas?
Any help much appreciated.
I have setup WSUS on 2016, WSUS version is 10.0.14393.2007
WSUS clients are Windows 10 and 2016
Some clients are showing the status as not yet reported and some as 99% even though none of the patches are installed on clients. No firewall in between and none of the clients are getting patches on the clients.
I am able to access the WSUS from cleint using http://x.x.x.x:8530/Selfupdate/iudent.cab
WSUS DB size is 45 GB and all the patches are approved on WSUS.
Client is I have deleted Softwaredistribution folder, after sync it becomes around 500MB and then stops.
The error on client is "We couldn't connect to the update service....
Sometimes WSUS service crashed which can only be resolved with a server restart. WSUS server is updated with all the patches from the Internet.
How can I resolve this error?
I have a problem with two servers one is my antivirus and the other is my App server
I have run a new downstream wsus server in one of my remote offices because I have a deadline to run their servers so I take an OVF from a sever and run these servers from that OVF
( my hypervisor is esxi 6 and my servers are windows server2012 R2)
when i apply wsus policies both server got the policy but only one of them is on my wsus and as i delete it the other one added but not both of them
I'm wondering is it related to the OVF which both servers installed from it?
how could I fix it?
thanks
Hello to all the experts,
I am struggling with failed windows updates till July/August 2019 - the Security Monthly Quality Rollups fail to install (while other updates seem to install OK). The result is that during GUI updates are installed OK, then during a reboot there's dark-blue screen which says that updates are being prepared, the percentage quickly goes to 12%, then a message about failure and that the update is being rolled back.
After long, long investigation and trying to reset windows updates in numerous ways (which didn't solved my problem), I have found in my CBS.log:

Isn't that mega stupid, that some driver update requires reboot, so Microsoft Windows should reboot, not abort the update and rollback. Moreover it says that "while processing non-critical driver operations".
I have tried to manually install tsusbhub.inf, but got an error "Cannot find the element". Does it have anything with 0x80070490 - ERROR_NOT_FOUND? Only the developer which wrote the code will now...
Anyway, the question is - what can I do about that to be able to install the updates? Did anyone solved specifically THAT error?
Please don't give me answers to reset windows updates with MS-FixIt or Reset-WindowsUpdate.ps1 or sfc /scannow or DISM method or windowsupdate.diagcab or manual install of the latest servicing stack. I have already tried all of them without ANY SUCCESS.
Please help!
I have setup 3 new WSUS on 2016, WSUS version is 10.0.14393.2007 at different independent locations.
I have the following issues, all Windows 10/2016 clients are unable to download the patches. There is no Internet at any site for the clients.
Very often the WSUS application crashes, the only way to resolve is server restart. WSUS is updated with all the patches.
I am able to access the WSUS from client using http://x.x.x.x:8530/Selfupdate/iudent.cab
So far I have tried different workarounds, the following are not configured.
There is no antivirus setup on WSUS yet
Please advise.
Hello Team ,
We require you help on getting the below information for WSUS Install and Configuration :-
Infrastructure Details :-
> We have Primary Domain Controller and secondary Domain Controller in UK
> The Fileserver also is configured in secondary Domain Controller
> We have RODC server in USA
> We have Child Domain Controllers in Mumbai
We have below Windows version :-
> Windows Server 2016
> Windows Server 2012
> Windows 8
> Windows 10
For the above infrastructure we need a Centralized WSUS Server where we can apply the updates effictively without any issues:-
1)Please let us know the Best Practice for the installation and Configuration settings to be done (GPO is preferred for our Infrastructure).
2)Do we require the reverse proxy for the WSUS ?
3)How to plan this update push to (Servers, Desktops) and what are the updates mandatory and what are updates should be avoided in the WSUS
Thank You
We are implementing WSUS in a Horizon View VDI environment. This questions will be just pertaining to updating dedicated VMs within this VDI environment. OS is Windows 10 1803
We have the following regedit entries
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU\
With these setting, the VM registers itself with the WSUS server and computer group. It will download any needed update, and install at the appropriate time. I had set these settings wanting to do engaged restart. IT is my understanding that if the user is logged in it will prompt for a restart - if the user is not logged in it will reboot outside of active hours. This will be within the EngagedRestartDeadline (my purpose - 2 days). Then after two days, it will attempt to notify the user to schedule the reboot, allowing the user to 'snooze this' during the EngagedRestartSnoozeSchedule (again, with my settings two days). After this period, it will change to a pending reboot (again, for my settings, two days). However, I am not getting any notifications. Do I need to add other settings for the notifications within the Engaged Restart process?

Hi there,
I have a problem with a WSUS Solution on Windows Server 2019. We have one online WSUS with Internet connections.
One Offline WSUS in Site A and one Replica WSUS in site B as a Test environment without Internet connection.
The Productive WSUS is also one at site A and one on site B but without network connection to the test environment.
With the online WSUS we get the Microsoft updates and copy all include the wsusutil export metadata and the WsusContent Folder to the Test WSUS on site A. Here we do the approvals. WSUS on site B is configured as a replica, this works fine. After the Test we will Copy the WsusContent folder the exported metadate (with wsusutil) and the APPROVALS to the productive environment.
I could not find a solution to export and import the APPROVALS from the Test to the Productive WSUS Server. We Use Windows Server 2019.
Did you guys have any idear
THX Gerd
Herzlichen Dank
Guys,
I am trying to install WSUS onto a standaline server (Offline) but encountering some issues, do you know of which patches are required after the base install of WSUS onto a windows 2008 R2 server?
Nathan
During the WSUS setup, If I connect to the Internet, by default it selects all the products which I do not want. (I do not want even the catalog for all the products)
I just need the catalog of Windows 10. How can I achieve this? If I dont sync for the first time, I dont see Win10 product selection. Is there a way around?
